VANCOUVER, WA – July 13, 2011 – For the fourth consecutive year, J.D. Power and Associates recognizes Clark Public Utilities with highest customer satisfaction ranking for residential electric service among midsize electricity providers in the Western United States.

In addition, Clark Public Utilities received the highest numerical score in the study regardless of utility size or region among 124 utilities included in the study.

The J.D. Power and Associates study measures customer satisfaction with electric utilities by examining six key factors, which cover all areas of utility operations: power quality and reliability; price; billing and payment; corporate citizenship; communications and customer service. In all of these categories, customers gave Clark Public Utilities the highest score in the West midsize segment.

"As a public utility, we aim to provide our customers with reliable service at the lowest cost possible," said Byron Hanke, president of the utility’s board of commissioners. "Recognition by J.D. Power and Associates is a prestigious indicator that we’re on the on the right track."

J.D. Power and Associates designs and finances the study, a standardized measure of satisfaction available for the electric residential utility industry. More than 98,500 residential electric utility customers throughout the U.S. responded online to the study. Based on these responses, the study compared 124 electric utility brands, collectively serving some 93 million households.

Hanke said, "Making sure the lights turn on every time our customers flip a switch requires a well-oiled machine and the employees of Clark Public Utilities, from our team of linemen to the customer service representatives who are available 24 hours a day, make it happen."

The West region covers Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Midsize utilities in the report serve between 125,000 and 499,999 residential customers.
