ANNUAL EARTH DAY EVENT FEATURES ECOFAIR AND FREE FAMILY ACTIVITIES TO CELEBRATE A HEALTHY PLANET
– Clark Public Utilities’ 13th Annual StreamTeam Earth Day Celebration is April 21 –
VANCOUVER, WA – April 5, 2012 – Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam is hosting an Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 21 in partnership with Clark County Department of Environmental Services. At the Salmon Creek Regional Park near Klineline Pond, the 13th Annual Earth Day Celebration is Clark County’s largest Earth Day tree planting and family event with more than 40 participating organizations!
The family-friendly celebration will feature a free community EcoFair between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with fun for kids, nature talks and walks, live entertainment, and booths from environmental organizations and businesses.
All activities are free of charge and include face painting, a wildlife show featuring birds of prey, Sammy the Salmon “scale” painting, disc golf, and interactive games hosted by Radio Disney Team Green.
Kids of all ages are invited to discover ways to save salmon on a walking tour, release rescued wild salmon in Salmon Creek and more. At the closing ceremonies, the winners of the Watershed Reflections student art and writing contest will be announced.
In addition to the EcoFair, hundreds of volunteers will plant trees and pull non-native Garlic mustard plants to improve salmon habitat from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. These activities are popular and volunteers must register in advance to participate. EcoFair attendees do not need to register.
