BRING IN SPRING WITH THE 20TH ANNUAL
CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES HOME & GARDEN IDEA FAIR

Free Weekend Event Open April 29-May 1 with Family Activities, Indoor and Out

VANCOUVER, WA – April 19, 2011 – Celebrating 20 years of inspiration for area homeowners and gardeners, Clark Public Utilities is hosting its annual Home & Garden Idea Fair April 29, 30 and May 1 at the Clark County Event Center.

Elaborate indoor landscape displays executed by the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals, hundreds of local business exhibits, fun activities for the whole family and educational sessions by local experts are featured throughout the weekend. The show also offers one of the largest plant sales in the region, coordinated by the Specialty Nursery Association of Clark County, with nearly 50 nurseries participating.

"The Home & Garden Idea Fair has been a signal of spring in our community for decades," said Heather Allmain, Clark Public Utilities communication services manager. "This year we expect to welcome more than 20,000 people over the course of the weekend to explore energy efficient and environmentally friendly home and garden products and services from local businesses."

Displays including a model Energy Smart Home designed by New Tradition Homes featuring energy efficiencies throughout and a fun, educational Salmon Migration Mini-Golf game for the kids offer something for everyone in the family.

To receive free compact fluorescent light bulbs, attendees are invited to bring old CFL bulbs and exchange them for up to six new bulbs. Sponsored by KINK.fm and PSC Environmental Services, the burned out CFL bulbs will be safely recycled.

There is no cost for entry to the Clark Public Utilities Home & Garden Idea Fair. In lieu of admission, donations of non-perishable food items for local food banks or cash for Operation Warm Heart, a program providing home heating grants to families in financial crisis, are encouraged. Fairground parking is $6 per vehicle.

Hours are Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
