MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND PLANT TREES WITH THE CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES STREAM TEAM, OCT. 27
– Family-friendly Volunteer Event is Open to the Public, Registration Required –

VANCOUVER, WA – October 12, 2018 – Volunteers of all ages are invited to pitch in and plant trees with Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam in celebration of the annual national Make a Difference Day, Oct. 27, 2018.

Held in the Battle Ground area, the event will kick-off with a coordinated tree planting led by seasoned volunteers and AmeriCorps members, followed by a celebration of volunteer service awards including the StreamTeam Volunteer of the Year and Salmon Star awards.

“Make a Difference Day is one of our most beloved tree planting events because it’s part of an even bigger effort,” said Ashley King, StreamTeam coordinator for Clark Public Utilities. “This annual event always brings together first-time tree-planters along with our dedicated Stream Stewards, AmeriCorps volunteers and seasoned StreamTeam leaders. There are ways for all ages and abilities to dig in and help!”

The event is made possible at no cost to participants through the generous support and in-kind donations from community partners. Local businesses Twin Star Credit Union and Corwin Beverages are this year’s Make a Difference Day sponsors and additional donors Frito Lay, Fred Meyer, Starbucks, MOD pizza and Waste Connections. Lunch will be provided by Chelatchie Crossing and live music will feature Jonny Ampersand.

When:  Saturday, October 27, 2018. Pre-registration is required, check-in at 8:30 a.m. for 9 a.m. planting, followed by lunch and awards presentation at noon.
Cost: There is no cost to participate but registration is required. Interested volunteers can sign up online at www.StreamTeam.net. Participation is limited.

Held rain or shine, the event will include on-site training and all tools and trees will be provided by the Clark Public Utilities StreamTeam. Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather. About the StreamTeam
The StreamTeam is a volunteer-driven program of Clark Public Utilities comprised of more than 1,000 team members who donate more than 3,500 hours of their time each year to save salmon. StreamTeam members come from a myriad of backgrounds including utility employees, Stream Stewards, scout groups, college students, youth groups and active retirees.
