Scout projects
The StreamTeam is available to provide guidance on scout projects.
To earn the Gold Award or Eagle Scout ranking, the highest ranks in scouting, a scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and community commitment. Our StreamTeam has worked with potential Eagle Scouts and Gold Award candidates on many projects and continues to do so as a part of educational outreach. Projects may include:
- Creating and placing raptor perches
- Coordinating a volunteer restoration event
- Tree planting
- Creating and placing wood duck boxes
- Non-native plant removal
- Project maintenance
- Coordinating an interpretive hike
- GPS data collection for English Ivy removal project
- Developing a community educational gathering
- Creating their own project
Only about 5 percent of all scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank. Approximately 5 percent of scouts receive Gold Awards. A sample of famous Eagle Scouts includes Neil Armstrong, President Gerald R. Ford, Bill Gates, Sr. Gary Locke, George Meyer (writer and producer of "The Simpsons"), Michael Moore, Steven Spielberg and John Tesh. Notable Gold Award winners include Betsy Boze and Jan Hopkins.
