Electric/magnetic fields (EMF)

What is EMF and what are its health effects?
EMF is an abbreviation for electric and magnetic fields. These "fields" are invisible lines of force that surround anything carrying electricity. They are part of our everyday lives and are created by the operation of such things as appliances, home wiring and power lines.

Homeowners may borrow meters from the utility to find out where these fields exist in their homes and just how strong they are. To arrange for the loan of a meter to measure EMF levels in your home, e-mail us.

There have been, and continue to be, many scientific studies done on the effects of EMF. Clark Public Utilities participates in the research and in providing information on the possible biological and health effects of electric and magnetic fields.
