Payback
The fun part of the "learn and serve" program is the use of learned skills. The StreamTeam offers a variety of options for Stewards to payback their tuition through meaningful service. Some of these include:
- Leading a StreamTeam volunteer group
- Monitoring salmon and steelhead redds through stream surveys
- Teaching elementary students through the utility's Student Tours
- Tending NatureScaping Wildlife Botanical Gardens
- Monitoring local water quality
- Sharing Stream Steward knowledge with schools and organizations
- Monitoring local bird populations
- Assisting with the management of a commercial nursery
- Many more opportunities to develop expertise within the Salmon Creek Watershed
